2020 Programme Dates

  • 2nd February - 29th March

  • 5th April - 31st May

  • 7th June - 2nd August

ABOUT

Girls United runs numerous International Coaching Programmes in 8-week intervals at various points throughout the year.

Each 8-week International Coaching Programme provides an opportunity for one applicant to be promoted to a Head Coach role, with the successful candidate selected based on prior experience and coaching qualification relevant to the role. Read the next section for more information on the Head Coach role.

DURATION: 6-8 Weeks / LOCATION: Bacalar, Mexico / AGE REQUIREMENT: 18+


PROGRAMME BENEFITS

  • Undertake introductory coaching and Spanish language courses

  • Engage with girls within the daily training sessions in local communities

  • Integrate into the volunteer group, building a new social network

  • Immerse within the local cultural to maximise the exchange programme benefits


Desirable Qualities

Experience coaching/playing, excellent communication skills, leadership skills, approachable and understanding, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationship with other coaches and players. Basic knowledge of Spanish is desirable.


WHATS INCLUDED?

Complete an introductory week, including a bespoke  coaching course  and  Spanish language course  to prepare sufficiently before getting on the pitch

Partake in a series of  cultural  and  group activities  such as lagoon and ruins trips as well as staff football to maximise your local stay in Mexico

Enjoy  local dishes  served up daily, whilst staying in modern, safe, secure  accommodation . All internal transfers and  transport  are also included

Head Coach Role

Head Coach Role


For more experienced coaches

Each 8-week International Coaching Programme provides an opportunity for one applicant to be promoted to a Head Coach Intern role, with the successful candidate selected based on prior experience and coaching qualification relevant to the role. All programme expenses covered.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the volunteer group,

  • Oversee the training programme for the duration of programme

  • Provide additional coach education and mentoring to volunteer group

Desirable Qualities

Experience coaching/playing, experience managing or leading teams, excellent communication skills, leadership skills, approachable and understanding, proactive and independent worker, able to build positive relationship with coaches and players and problem solving. A basic knowledge of Spanish and a minimum intermediate level in English is required.

Head Coach roles are selected from the pool of applicants through the conventional application
form for the International Coaching Programme.

Work Exchange Scheme


Gain work experience with Girls United

We want the programme to be accessible for everyone that is enthusiastic about the project! 

We can arrange a work exchange scheme in which you take on additional responsibilities during your time at the academy and we subsidies the programme costs. The responsibilities will vary depending on your level of Spanish, your experience in coaching and your specific strengths in a workplace. They can range from:

  • Social Media management/COMMS

  • Photography and video production

  • Additional coaching responsibilities

  • Organisational and administrative tasks

  • Language teaching (English or Spanish)

Subsidies will be offered depending on the work commitment and can range from 10% to 50%.
